Giant right ureterocele mimicking ureterohydronephrosis on simplex ureter
Main Article Content
Abstract
Ureterocele is a rare malformative uropathy characterised by pseudocystic dilatation of the submucosal terminal end of the ureter. We report the case of an eight-month-old male infant referred from a rural hospital for management of a right ureterohydronephrosis discovered on ultrasound three days after birth. CT scan confirmed the presence of giant right ureteral-pyelocalic dilatation with extra vesical extension associated with a right ureterocele measuring 104.9 x 63.9 x 178 mm on ureter simplex. Complete excision of the ureterocele and dilated pelvic ureter followed by Politano Leedbetter ureterovesical reimplantation were performed. Postoperative follow-up was normal.
