Pelvic migration of a guide pin during an osteosynthesis for hip fracture: 2 cases
Main Article Content
Abstract
Intraoperative pelvic migration of guide pin in hip fracture surgery, which can lead to bladder perforation, is a rare and potentially serious condition. We report 2 cases in which a guide pin migrated into the pelvis during Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) hip osteosynthesis. The indication for surgery was a basi-cervical fracture on the right side in 1 case and a femoral neck fracture in the other case. Sub-umbilical laparotomy revealed a pelvic confusing pin opposite the bladder in 1 case, while in the other case there was a bladder perforation. The pin was removed in both cases. Post-operative management was straightforward in all patients.
